In northern Georgia, the North Georgia Highlands Explorer takes you along one of the most scenic mountain routes in the Caucasus, where deep valleys, alpine meadows, and snow-capped peaks create unforgettable views. The journey begins at the historic fortress of Ananuri Fortress, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Zhinvali Reservoir and offering a glimpse into Georgia’s medieval past. The road continues through the dramatic mountain landscapes of Gudauri, a popular ski resort surrounded by vast ridges and high passes of the Greater Caucasus range. From there, the route leads to the breathtaking region of Stepantsminda, also known as Kazbegi, where the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church stands beneath the towering Mount Kazbek.
